Both my boys and I get dark circles; mild to moderate in color.
They both have food allergies. Since I regulate their food now they have disappeared. They do come back on occasion but I think that is when I slack on their diet. They are not raw but eat a *whole foods* organic diet for the most part with lots of raw fruits/veggies and nuts. NO DAIRY or gluten.
As for my dark circles, I have never intentionally tried to get rid of them,but when I cleaned up my own diet thru raw and/or whole foods, no dairy, they are gone now too. I use to have to wear some concealer on them but nothing now. I don't even see them. I have been raw off/on for 3 years now. More on than off in 2005 (getting better!). I'd say I am high raw the majority of the time. I don't know if it was food allergies or adrenal with me?!?!? But cleaning up my diet helped either way. It didn't happen overnight though, so keep on at it.
Raw will definitely help the complexion too!

If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:
Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water & stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath & let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off. Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K & Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.

I had dark circles and puffiness under my eyes for years. I even went to the eye dr concerned because my eyes felt "gritty" and I always looked very tired. I also cannot go outside without sunglasses because of sensitivity to sunlight. After going gluten free, I started absorbing vitamins and iron (was anemic) and my dark circles are gone. The puffiness went away after I began using "Refresh Tears" 2x a day for dry eyes. It is over the counter and helps with dry eyes. I would ask to have your iron levels checked as well as for other deficiencies. My symptoms were all nutritional deficiencies more than stomach problems.

Liquid Chlorophyll
I wasn't sure what it would or wouldn't do, and after a few days I still wasn't sure. However, I now love it! It has lightened up my dark circles tremendously! I wasn't expecting that since i never heard of anyone taking it for that reason, it just seems to be an added and welcome side effect. As far as being a 'deodorizer', honestly, I can't tell. I don't usually have an odor problem which is probably why. It seems to all of a sudden flush out my um, er, system, shall we say? Which is nice since I still never did any cleanses or anything. So I guess it naturally and mildly does that for people too.

Briar Rose
I suffered since a young age with allergies and the dark circles under my eyes and after searching for a solution for years I finally found the greatest allergy remedy ever!!!! Seriously...It's called Briar Rose and it has basically cured my allergies. If you knew how I used to be and how I am now you would understand why I would make such a bold statement. The link to Briar Rose is below. Take about 50 drops twice a day for a few weeks and then go on a maintenance dosage of maybe 10-15 drops a day after that. This stuff has been absolutely amazing and has made a huge difference in my life. I've been on it for about a year and a half and I think I've had 2 days during this time that I had a runny nose. I didn't really notice this until the post. I used to have bad circles under my eyes and I was told they were just food and environmental allergies. I went raw and they disappeared! I relapsed into cooked and they're as dark as ever. It MUST be internal exhaustion and I just look at them as little pools of toxins under my skin.

Dr Schulze 30 Day Cleanse

I just read this last night. It is from "eating for Beauty" by David Wolfe.Dark circles under the eyes are related to having an exhausted adrenal system. Coffee contributes to this as do other stimulants, such as refined sugar (soda, candy) cigarettes and recreational drugs. Dark circles may also be caused by a potassium overdose ( eating too many foods high in potassium)
Dark circles can be corrected by eating foods high in organic sodium such as celery, chard, kale, spinach, olives, unwashed sea veggies and by using Celtic Sea Salt. Cucumbers and pumpkin seeds may also be effective.

My daughter also did not have red ears, red cheeks, red patches or eczema, but she had dark circles. We did the IgG panel and she reacted to 31 foods. We removed all of them and the circles got lighter but remained. It was after about 2 months on MB12 that her circles disappeared entirely. I have had that same problem most of my life. My Pictures from first grade on look like that. If you can find a really good base and just as good foundation, it will cover them up. Although not cheap, I use Arbonne. Not only does it work great, it is all botanically made. On top of that, I have started drinking a juice that gets rid of the free radicals from your body. Until my Uncle pointed it out, I didn't even realize that my circles were almost completely gone! So, I watched them for about another two weeks disappear! In shock, I did a lot of studying on MonaVie juice. On my home page, it explains how the free radicals and antioxidants work. I still get them sometimes...if I haven't had enough sleep or if I am getting sick (which isn't to often anymore). Can't guarantee either would work for you, but if you are as self consious about them as I, either or both are worth a try.

I find that consistant diet and exercise tend to leave me without the dark circles verses not. If I eat leafy greens…etc… and run at least an hour a day …………My dark circles usually go away…..and I look just as refresed as the next person. What could this hurt! Any teenage girl would be upset to find out that her raccoon eyes were hereditary, and my baby sister was no exception. As if by magic, or some strange evil curse, she woke up one morning with our family's famous dark eye circles. Its particularly noticeable in the women, and my mother and grandmother have been masking it for years. Yes maybe it is a function of poor diet, and yes maybe it is lack of exercise. Who knows? But neither my Dad or my Mother was too interested in spending HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS buying clinque-this and oil-of-that to appease my sister's vanity. They weren't going to raise another cosmetic product junkey and so no matter how hard she cried, they wouldn't cave.
Of course, my Grandpa couldn't stand to see his only granddaughter upset about anything. . .
The old man went off to his laboratory where he concocted a miracle paste. He poured one tablespoon of tomato juice into a shot glass, and added a half tablespoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of turmeric powder. What is turmeric powder you ask? It's an Indian spice. India produces 100% of the world's supply and consumes 80%. Anyway Grandpa thickened the paste by adding bleached white flour until the sauce achieved a sticky consistency.Grandpa made my sister lie down on the sofa and close her eyes she had to keep her eyes shut no matter what. Then Grandpa insisted that she keep perfectly still while he painted her face and eyes with his potent mixture. My sister was made to lie perfectly still and only take deep breathes for ten or fifteen minutes... until she could stand it no longer. When she washed off the smelly red paste we simply couldn't believe the difference. I wish I had taken pictures, it was remarkable. The dark circles were gone.

Dietary Changes
A patient of ours named Don came in to see our natural medicine doctors because he wanted to lose weight and get more energy. We noticed right away that he had a problem with his diet because of the dark circles around his eyes. After consulting with him we found out that he was eating a lot of the wrong foods. His diet mainly consisted of simple carbohydrates like white pasta, pizza, and sweets. Oil Pulling
"I have had dark circles under my eyes nearly all my life. I even have elementary school pictures that show my dark circles under my eyes! HOWEVER, I absolutely SWEAR by oil pulling with pure unrefined sesame seed oil every morning and evening to get rid of undereye circles (1 tsp swished for about 10 minutes, rinse with diluted H202). It really works! I don't really know why; I assume it eliminates impurities that accumulate under your eyes resulting in the appearance of dark circles. Dental Advice and Dark Circles
If your children are not taking vitamin supplements, and they are not going out into the sun to get extra vitamin D, then the odds are that their teeth are deteriorating. If their teeth are deteriorating, then your children are at high risk for developing a pale face and dark circles under the eyes. Find a dental office that will help you put together a supplement program for your children that includes vitamin C, niacin, and thiamine. Send your children out into the sun without sun block. Prevent cavities and pale faces at the same time by implementing the program. Measure the results by tracking the health of your children's teeth.

Preparation H
Also... I haven't tried this but Preparation H does WONDERS! because the reason you have dark circles is because of increased blood flow for one reason or another... and Preparation H reduces that blood flow slightly so that dark circles are gone :)

Omega Fish Oil and Caster Oil
I have severe dry eye problems and my eyes have really taken a toll on the way they look. I used to have puffiness and very dark circles and the best and cheapest way I have found to reduce the problem is I apply warm tea bag under each eye for approx. 10 to 20 min. in the morning...the puffiness is noticeably reduced or gone. I apply a small amt. of pure castor oil each night before I go to bed and when you wake up the dark circles are gone(almost). I also take 3,000mg.of fish oil which helps this, too, and also my heart & circlulation which again helps my eyes tremendously.

Gluten Illemination
Since eliminating gluten, I look and feel much healthier. If you want to lose weight, you may drop several pounds in bloating alone. I measured my thigh this morning and it was sub-22", which is unheard of. I have NEVER seen it below 22 inches in any of my recollection, and my typical non-bloated measurement is generally around 22.25-22.5". I haven't cut calories; as a matter of fact, I'm going through gluten withdrawal as I type this. Oh, and my period started today. Hardly noticed it, which is also unheard of -- barely bloated, and almost painless. My skin is clear, with even tone. The dark circles are gone, and I look a couple years younger even.

Benzonite Bath Cure
I've been wanting to try a bentonite clay bath for a while now, and finally got to it last night. It was an interesting experience; as I was laying in the tub I felt this faint "pulling" sensation and a couple of times I felt a little woozy, but nothing major. So this morning when I got up, I didn't feel quite so sluggish, and then when I got to the bathroom... I looked in the mirror and my dark circles are GONE! Overnight! Its amazing! Dh wants to take it internally, so I might try it too.

Food Allergies and Dark Circles
Food IgG showed highest sensitivities to peanut and cow's milk. We have removed peanut butter and we're doing enzymes. His dark circles are gone for the first time in many years. However, as usual I'm not sure if it's the vitamins, the probiotic, zinc or what, that has made the difference. Bed wetting is also resolved.

We're GFCF for going on 3 months and I've seen HUGE changes. The dark circles
are gone and she is out of the clouds. We also had food allergy tests and found
her to be allergic to all dairy, soy, OJ (there went the calcium enriched
stuff...darn) and goat milk as well as some other things. Wheat peptides were
shown so that is out too.

Going Gluten Free Did The Trick.
I had dark circles and puffiness under my eyes for years. I even went to the eye dr concerned because my eyes felt "gritty" and I always looked very tired. I also cannot go outside without sunglasses because of sensitivity to sunlight. After going gluten free, I started absorbing vitamins and iron (was anemic) and my dark circles are gone. The puffiness went away after I began using "Refresh Tears" 2x a day for dry eyes. It is over the counter and helps with dry eyes. I would ask to have your iron levels checked as well as for other deficiencies. My symptoms were all nutritional deficiencies more than stomach problems.

Omega 3 and Water
i guess you don't drink enough water, lack of water is the major factor in bags under eyes.. drink 8-12 glasses of water everyday. and btw you wont believe what can cure that as well!! i take 1 gel pill of Omega 3(Fish oil) every day! wow my dark circles are gone in one months and no bags any more :D.
my friends are shocked, they can' believe it's all from drinking water and taking Omega 3. now am taking Omega (3-6-9) and it's amazing!! you should take them after a heavy meal, 'coz they work more effectively when your stomach is full, and try to take them every day at the same time, lets say after lunch.. even your skin will look better, and your heart will get healthier..

Detoxing and Dark Circles
On some days after I've had a really good night's sleep they are completely gone.In fact, the only dark circles under my eyes anymore are really shadows from my "bug out" eyes, there is no discoloration of my skin anymore at all. But I don't
just attribute this to Liver Flushes (I've done 4 and am planning for another one this weekend). I also eliminated most
chemicals from my lifestyle including food additives , shampoo,
lotion, deoderant, scents. I no longer store my food in plastic. I rarely eat processed food and I eat far more vegetables today than before. This is just some of the changes I've made over the past couple years, and my overall health is much better.
My disappearing circles were an added bonus. I started on
the alternative health track because I had gall bladder pain and didn't want surgery. Thanks to God that I didn't go that route! I feel better than ever, no gall pain anymore, I'm rarely sick, etc.

Dark Circles Went Away When I Went to Sleep Early
- I remember when I slept inside a hospital for a week. I was less stressed and the dark shadows went away, but now they came back. When I was in the hospital I forced myself to sleep as early as 8pm to make the days go by for my discharge. This helped.
